Sway also serves as a producer for artists and labels via his website, where he has leased and sold thousands of beats over the years. Combined, Tony Sway has generated over 300 million plus streams from producing other artists as well as his own releases.
We chatted with Tony on how he uses the Prophet-10 in his music:
What made you choose the Prophet-10?
My Prophet-10 helps give me the sound I had always been trying to create, but didn’t know where to find! The analog warmth and lush textures you get from this synth are so timeless, that’s why it’s the centerpiece of my sound!
How are you using it?
Most recently I created two instrumental albums, Ambient Vibes & Lush Vibes with the Prophet-10 as the main choice, for chords, leads, pads and bass, this synth’s sonic potential is unlimited!
What is one of your favorite things about it?
The Prophet-10 is so simple to use and I create music so quickly with it, the sound design capabilities are straightforward, I love designing Rhodes type patches on the 10 and then layering and stacking lush pads and silky lead sounds, all from the Prophet-10 – they blend so well in my mixes!
What does it give you that other synths might not?
Nothing else has this sound, it’s so classic and timeless, I don’t know what I’d do without it, honestly I would get creative blocks in the past, where I just didn’t feel inspired by certain sounds on other keyboards, the Prophet-10 really just brings that inspiration, where the creativity is just endless, sometimes I have to stop myself because I can’t stay from creating with this, the sound is just so addictive!
Any interesting Prophet 10 tricks or techniques you would like to share?
My favorite technique as mentioned before is stacking and layering multiple patches from the Prophet-10, you can really go wild with this synth, It’s common practice for me to stack up to 3 different layers for chords, it just makes the mix larger than life!
