Born and raised in San Francisco, Stylo is a multi-faceted musician with skills established in composing, producing, engineering, and DJing. Stylo’s work has been licensed by major media features like FX’s Sons of Anarchy and EA’s FIFA. Stylo, who is a graduate of Ex’pression College, delivers music that supports his many years of hard work. Touring with Los Rakas, Stylo has performed at the Coachella, Oakland Music Festival, Latino Fest and other major Latin tours. He has toured Colombia, Panama, among other destinations. His live set includes combining DJing with live elements like live sequencing, percussion, and guitar. Retrograde, his debut EP is set for release in the fall of 2016, and showcases Stylo’s sound, which is rooted in Latin and electronic music influences.
We chatted with Stylo about how he’s using the Pro 2.
Stylo, what made you choose the Pro 2?
“The sound is truly amazing. The possibilities you have are right at your fingertips. It’s like the Prophet 12’s big baby brother on roids!”
How are you using it?
“I am using it to create production based around its intricate textures. Love how you can manipulate sound. We are doing live sequencing using the Pro 2 for our live shows with Hazel Rose along with Ableton Live.”
What’s one of your favorite things about it?
“Love how simple to use, yet complex-sounding the step sequencer is.”
What does it give you that other synths might not?
“A mono synth approach with a poly twist.”
Any interesting Pro 2 tricks or techniques you’d like to share?
“Use the audio input for fxs (i.e. guitar or other synths). Its mad dope.”
